National Strategy for Economic Transformation

Today the Cabinet Secretary for Finance and the Economy launched the Scottish Government’s National Strategy for Economic Transformation in Dundee. The full report can be read here.

A spokesperson for Colleges Scotland said: “Scotland’s 26 colleges, across all six areas of the Policy Programmes of Action, will be playing their part in economic recovery and transformation, and in supporting students and businesses to thrive.

“The Skills agenda highlighted in the Report makes it clear that delivery of the ambitions outlined today can only be achieved with a strong and sustainable college sector. Colleges, civic anchors in communities across the country, must be recognised by Scottish Government as the obvious choice for investment, already upskilling and retraining hundreds of thousands of people each year across the broad range of economic need identified today. Looking ahead to the Resource Spending Review in May 2022 the need for meaningful strategic funding for colleges has never been clearer.”
